Dear Eckhart and All:
Can you be absolutely certain that in this present moment, this sense of beingness, awareness, etc is not in fact an elaborate and powerful conjuring act of the physical brain situated in the skull?
And that before the brain came online, there was nothing, and that after the brain dies there is nothing?
And if the answer is yes, what is your evidence/proof, other than to say it is simply known, or self-evident, or beyond words, or must be experienced to know, or who is asking, and so on?
I can share, without drawing on any spiritual concepts, that in this moment, there is a profound sense of awareness/beingness.
And that there appear to be qualities such as stillness, peace, joy, clarity, formless, timeless, oneness, and so on.
Beyond that, I cannot say, and of that I cannot say that this is not sourced in this physical brain.
So what do so-called Masters know with such certitude/conviction, that they can elaborate in so many ways on Self, Brahman, Shiva, past/future lives, siddhis, spiritual evolution, karma, and so on.
If even they cast away all such concepts, what could they say about this present moment for certain?
And what can you say?
Notice if you are feeling triggered by this line of inquiry, or moved to defend some position.
I am not advocating any position, nor do I feel drawn to, or invested in any position.
I am simply saying that there is nothing here to say that the brain theory is any more or less reasonable/plausible than the spiritual teachings of some infinite, singular, intelligent, divine, formless, Self/Brahman etc. that is apart from the brain/body mechanism but also contains everything.
