En 2011 se produjo un escándalo con el Dalai Lama, líder espiritual
tibetano, exiliado luego de liderar un levantamiento contra el gobierno
chino, porque fue invitado por Desmond Tutu a Ciudad del Cabo para la
conferencia Internacional de la Paz durante la celebración del 80
cumpleaños de Tutu. El Gobierno de Sudáfrica demoró en otorgarle el visado
al Dalai Lama y el 4 de octubre de 2011, el Dalai Lama canceló su viaje. Ya
en 2009 le habían negado el visado y esta vez Desmond Tutu se mostró muy

The students asked a couple good questions that got good responses from
both.
This discussion was nice for the fact it shows the commonality between the
two beliefs. The questions asked could have been directed towards either
one of them and their responses would have been similar in meaning.
Also, the ending was a nice touch when Desmond Tutu led the singing of
‘Happy Birthday To You’ to the Dalai Lama
