To understand the Atman, Meditation is the only answer. Because you can only find God or the Lord inside your heart nowhere else. God is "absolute silence". Only a spiritual guru can take you on this journey.

What is self? A collection of digital data derived from the senses of sight, hearing, touch and what have you. This data is stored off world and not in the brain. When this data is placed in a linear position, completes a potential experience that is 100% unique to that person. Next question..
