Dick Alpert is still in there. He just can't speak with an audible voice anymore. Ram Dass smiles a lot and nods. Subtle affirmation? Sure.
If you really try to be somebody, and REALLY try, you’ll find it’s actually ultimately impossible because the harder you try to be somebody, I can promise you not a single person cares. You’re trying to be somebody, great, basically join the club of every other spiritually ignorant person too busy doing the same to care about your “somebodyness”. The moment you choose to be nobody, you gain the internal peace, ease, and joy that you were originally looking for while trying to be somebody. You can try, but it won’t matter and you’ll waste a lot of time. Being nobody is the quickest route to true and genuine joy.
If you once have tasted this nonduality-stuff, it will never let you go until you go
The difficulty isn’t so much with taking the mask off, but once you’ve begun to do so it cannot be put back on. There’s a sort of one-way adhesive stuck to it that won’t stick again after removal. It takes a good deal of “effort” to take it off, something like a slow burning and tearing of your skin over a prolonged period. Who would do such a thing? Only someone with truly nothing left to lose.
Be Here Now.
In 'Steps To Knowledge' enlightenment isn't the goal, happiness isn't the goal, peace isn't the goal. These are potential outcomes of practice, of re-orienting you life and of giving your true gifts. Has anyone experienced an actively active OBE? I've had an experience where I'm at work looking down on my avatar from an elevated awareness. Knowing all that my avatar would do moments before my avatar would do it. Not as in telling my avatar what to do, just knowing what it would do. The crazy part was that I'd then find myself back within my avatar like instantly. I was confused as to what I'd just experienced. Then before I knew it, I was instantly back in this above awareness overlooking my avatar. I say avatar because from my above awareness, i was not conscious of what was going on within my avatar. Just merely overlooking my avatar play out its daily work from above. This experience brought about a level of innerstanding yet many questions simply because I haven't experienced it again as of yet to be able to make comparisons. Yet this was damn near one of the most eye opening finds/experiences of my life! I've come across so far one individual that has had this same experience.
I WAS ON THE SPIRITUAL TRIP. THEN I REALIZED. WE'RE AM I GOING? LOVE THIS SOMEBODY. YOU WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER BE THIS NOBODY. THERE IS NO INLIGHTENMENT. INJOY LIFE INSTEAD OF FEEDING FALSE GODS. YEARS OF SPIRITUAL PRACTICE LEAD ME THE LOVE OF LIFE. I IDENTIFY WITH THE BODY
