I don't get his point on not eating meat. He says to treat the body like a beloved pet and also that the body is meat just like anything else. So which is it? Obviously he doesn't eat cats. I don't want my body eaten so I don't eat the bodies of others.

If you are meat then why don't you eat your wife? All great saints and sages were vegetarians. Ahimsa (non-violence) is a necessity and a high virtue. You can clearly see here that Hawkins has fallen tremendously in consciousness here and it wouldn't surprise me that it's because of mostly lust. Brahmacharya is another necessity that must be followed. He was clearly wasting his semen. Anyhow, thousands have fallen to lust and pride in different scriptures so Hawkins isn't any exception.
