Yet another twist in the US Democratic Primary- find out what Obama said coming up on this edition of Get the Daily. Welcome to Get the Daily.com, I’m Dana Ward here with your news update The Dalai Lama commented on Sunday that his aides had undertaken “some efforts” at diplomacy with the Chinese government. He said, however, that no further talks are in the works and that the Tibetan people would be unwilling to make concessions to facilitate such a process. The Dalai Lama explained this by saying that his people had become refugees and had little left to concede. The talks are taking place despite heavy criticism emanating from Beijing. Chinese officials have accused the Dalai Lama of inciting the protests, some of which turned violent, that have been ongoing in Tibet since March 10. The Dalai Lama vehemently denied these accusations and called on China to release Tibetan political prisoners and to provide them with adequate medical care. He also made a point of mentioning that the Tibetan people are not pressing for independence, but rather a greater degree of autonomy in their homeland. He also stressed that his people are not anti-Chinese and do not oppose China hosting the upcoming Olympic Games. At a San Francisco campaign event late last week, Barack Obama commented that people in depressed small towns “cling” to issues as religion and guns. The comments ignited a mini-firestorm in the media and rival Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton seized on the remarks and accused Obama of reinforcing stereotypes and being out of touch with the common American voter. Obama responded with his own critique, saying that the Clinton was playing politics as she had taken vast amounts of money from Wall Street types. He went on to say that his comments were meant in a positive way and were based on his work with such people in Chicago. I’m Dana Ward for Get the Daily.com and that’s the news for …
