A well-known concept that has emerged from Taoist philosophy is wu wei, that can be translated as “non-action”, “effortless action”, or the paradoxical “action of non-action”.

Green Peacemst says:

Well, I started my seeking with Lao Tzu's Taoism thanks to scholar H Smith. I'm grateful to continue returning to it in doses with a range and extenr of interfaith Christian resources at my disposal now. As I do things like metaphysics now, I enjoyed realizing that poem 1 of the Dao De Ching (t?) has some good basic insights, for one. The Kalam cosmolofical argument and God's agency then are even more fun to work with and perceive. With the Buddhist Four Noble Truths, too, among others.

day light says:

The example of cutting up an ox I find problematic. Yes, in order to make the process of the strenuous and intricate cutting easy, the cook taps into the gentleness and the flow. And of course he taps into it in order not to see the cow but only the tiny parts that makes up their body. This is a very convenient and selfish way of the cook/the human to cut himself off from empathy and from recognizing the cow as a Sentient individual who deserves love and protection, who can be taken along as a companion through the river and in into the flow. There is no gentleness in killing and dismembering. In this particular example Taoism is a very convenient way for this human to make his life, his job, the needs of his and his master’s tastebuds all important and the process of procurement effortless. Egotistical and narcissistic human behaviour condoned by appropriating the Tao.

JackintheBox says:

It still takes a lot of practise and 'effort' and time to get to that point of not trying.

Kevin McMonagle says:

Wu wei is the most understood concept of these traditions. Wu wei is not "going with the flow" it's the ability to reverse the flow. The related concept of Wu Chi is stopping the flow, wu wei is reversing it. I don't think you will get to wu wei without first learning wu chi. "Follow nature find death, reverse nature find life".

Ricardo Bondoc Jr. says:

Growing up in a Christian country, the Philippines, I was taught that other religions are "demonic" and not to be swayed if I would bump into some of their teachings/philosophies. Nevertheless, after watching, reading and listening to some other philosophies of beliefs about God/The Divine/Universe/Higher Being/etc., I found them matched to my personal beliefs. ❤️
