He studied medicine in India before emigrating to the United States, where he completed residencies in internal medicine and endocrinology.
2. Tell your story
A licensed physician, in 1980 he became chief of staff at the New England Memorial Hospital.
3. Follow your bliss
He met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1985 and became involved with the Transcendental Meditation movement.
4. Serve the needs of people
He resigned his position at NEMH to establish the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center.
5. Master time management
He gained a following in 1993 after his interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show regarding his books.
6. Be fully engaged
In 1996 he co-founded the Chopra Center for Wellbeing.
7. Create your reality
He claims that his practices can extend the human lifespan and treat chronic disease.
8. Don’t be a victim
He has been described as “America’s most prominent spokesman for Ayurveda”.
9. Incorporate spiritual values in your business
The Time magazine stated that he is “the poet-prophet of alternative medicine”.
