Roberta Smith says:

these are the bad seeds, the ones who over and over and over again killed, crucified, denied, misinterpreted and lied, every time their own salvation, their own joy, their own pure innocence. these are the chaff; these are the bad seeds; these are the blind; these are the diseased; these are the gray worms crawling in the soil, no light; these are the putrified; these are the damned. The EGO, the greed, the slime the rutting, the denial, the pomp, the snark, the apathy, the dead.  That is what the SPIRITUAL EYE SEES and that is why the knowledge and way to opening it was covered and obscured because to be seen is to be known and to be known in truth is excruciating: THE SCREAM   ….finally the worm looks in the mirror and sees what it has done.

I agree that while Oprah does hinder the effectiveness of what would be an ideal situation of allowing Eckhart through greater wisdom and acceptance of others and the situation at hand, I find myself developing a more reinforced understanding of what it means to think from the soul rather than through the impulse of desire and wanting to be at peace when witnessing and intaking his teachings in these real-time situations. In theory what he teaches is the beginning of what could become something greater than can be described through words. Every moment in a person and their environment is more complex than can be perceived. For example I too agree with harpx4 that I find myself angry with Oprah even when speaking as far I as I was conserned at a far more advanced level than I had thought the person who is she would be capable of, that she does not have at this point the ability to break away from the compulsive desire to identify with what she see as an enjoyable experience of demonstating her own wisdom. But from analyzation of the conflict between my perception of her faults and how I myself am struggling to be able to encorporate true forgiveness and acceptance with real-time situations i find that it challenges me to step back and logically ponder apon what it means to be at one with the moment and that it gives me reinforcement through experience. The first step is to recognize a "painbody" which is no more than a desire to have a situation less burdensome. It is a process of the mind so deeply conditioned that to truly become "enlightened" takes many instances of what could be described as failure to grow within, but it is in the allowance of this moment to occur and the realization that is is an opportunity to act apon it in a way that doesn't cause your mind to feel like you are lacking in the ability to logically perceive your fault that gives you tidbits of wisdom that may help you in furthering your ability to handle future challenges.

If you find this useful, what you might find more useful are the multitude of Eckhart Tolle videos without Oprah. Just Eckhart Tolle talking. Slowly. Gently. Pausing, and choosing the right words to carefully answer people's questions. Oprah is on the right track, and I guess she means well, but her style of programme is geared to people who can't stand to have a moment's silence. If there is a one second pause, and often even if there is not a pause at all, she just has to speak. It is a compulsion. If a thought comes into her head, she has got to say something. She can't just keep quiet. What she says might be be something relevant. It might be something helpful. It might even help to clarify something, but while she claims to understand what Eckhart is talking about, she seems to be constantly demonstrating that she has missed the point. Simply because she can't just keep quiet and seems to find a couple of seconds silence intolerable. She has to fill it with something. I take full responsibility for my own lack of patience with her, but I'm afraid she brings out the worst in me. At some point I find myself shouting "For Rice Cakes Woman, will you shut the Hell up, and just let the man talk"  "At least give him the chance to think, and us the chance to absorb what has been said"  I wish she would at least count to ten, and then, if there is still silence, maybe she could speak. But please. Quietly and gently and without the desperate need to demonstrate that she also now knows al about this, thereby demonstrating that she doesn't at all.  I can imagine that Oprah Winfrey is a really relaxing person to be with. When she is asleep.
