Eckhart Tolle- The Modern Buddha on February 16, 1948) is a German-born resident of Canada, best known as the author of The Power of Now and A New Earth: Awakening to your Life’s Purpose. In 2011, he was listed by the Watkins Review as the most spiritually influential person in the world. In 2008, a New York Times writer called Tolle “the most popular spiritual author in the United States”.
Tolle has said that he was depressed for much of his life until he underwent, at age 29, an “inner transformation”. He then spent several years wandering and unemployed “in a state of deep bliss” before becoming a spiritual teacher. Later, he moved to North America where he began writing his first book, The Power of Now, which was published in 1997[5] and reached the New York Times Best Seller lists in 2000.
The Power of Now and A New Earth sold an estimated three million and five million copies respectively in North America by 2009. In 2008, approximately 35 million people participated in a series of 10 live webinars with Tolle and television talk show host Oprah Winfrey. Tolle is not identified with any particular religion, but he has been influenced by a wide range of spiritual works.[8] He has lived in Vancouver, Canada since 1995.

Thank you Eckhart for guiding me through the pain which our minds can give us and giving me the tools to walk and live in the present. No matter how difficult my past it does not rule my mind. I am so very happy and everyone sees the change in me

Tiger Jakt says:

Amercians do check about Alan Watts before you label who is modern Buddha and where did the power of now started. you'll be surprised by the repeated things. Copying things without attribution is not simply good.

I just undertstood this idea of being without thought. There are two types of mind always working. One is present and performs the necessary tasks simply and near perfectly. The other is the one watching and judging and fearing and projecting and making a lot out of nothing except feelings with ideas that are mostly if not all unnecessary and interfering with the business of life.

MP Chandran says:

Is there not a difference between Brain and Mind ?The Buddha was asked"Is the mind within the body or outside the body".His answer was "In neither, mind is universal".The brain is said to be a highly conditioned and programmed computer and the mind "pure intelligence"and which acts best when the brain is silent. This is the basis for meditation. The so-called "chatter of the mind" is really the chatter of the brain. When that chatter of the brain is silenced we have the stillness.(pure intelligence or presence or mind)

Thank you for your teachings and for your thoughts. I was a time when I lived in my car and now is a nice hole and I remember when I was 27 not having any food. What it never occurred to me that I would never be okay. And now I know why. I should have known that when I was hungry it's a great time too fast and when I was worried it's a great time to calm myself down Listen to My Heart. My family won't go with me but at least I know the way.
