Śūn yatā says:

When suffering is self created by the ego – and the ego doesn't exist – then it's actually IT who hurts ITSELF? WHO ? The ego is an Illusion.. who is hurting whom ?

Heather MacDonald says:

You need to realize that there is infinitely more to you than who you are as a person, and whatever your situation is like on a personal level – whether you life is a great success or a huge failure – and those two things are narratives in your mind, they're not reality – you have the narrative in your mind, "I am a great success, I am the master of the universe!", or "I will be, you'll see!" but whatever it is ultimately, it doesn't matter all that much, what you have achieved or failed.
There is one true achievement. That is how much consciousness expresses through you at this moment . And you could have failed at everything. You could have messed it all up. Whatever you did, lets assume, whatever you did in life, let's assume it always turned into a huge mess. You messed up the whole thing. Let's take that extreme. There may be some of you that have that idea in your head. I messed up completely. Well you did, so why are you here? Well, how conscious are you if all your messing up brought you to a point of spiritual awakening? Which means you're conscious at this moment and you know yourself as consciousness.
That means that in this moment in and through you the universe has become conscious of itself. Because that's who you are. You are the universe becoming conscious of itself, obviously.

You Biscuit says:

"This event here, for example, is of greater importance, although it only involves 1,000 people, than almost anything you will read or watch in the news tonight, because it involves humanity reaching new levels of consciousness where they no longer generate insanity and suffering for themselves and each other. But is it going to be on the news tonight? I don't think so."

Politics according to Eckhart Tolle: What I am doing is of utmost importance to humanity, and coming to my events and paying attention to me is more important than anything else. How convenient for you. But, of course, I'm only having these thoughts because I'm falling prey to an INTENSIFICATION OF UNCONSCIOUSNESS, I'm sure.

To be fair, I believe that he really believes what he's saying. He seems to have departed a bit from the close presence of his earlier work.

And to be clear, I absolutely think mindfulness and presence is important and that the world needs more of it. But it's interesting how he's managed to generate a political narrative here, with a goal no less lofty than the complete salvation of humanity, with in-groups (the conscious, or awakening, or becoming conscious) and out-groups (the unconscious). That's a very potent combination of ideas for making yourself and your followers feel important and good about themselves – which really departs from his original core message, doesn't it? There's a bit of conceptual sleight-of-hand going on that he doesn't even seem aware of himself. It must happen to a lot of spiritual teachers after they go on Oprah.

And I don't begrudge spiritual teachers talking about politics. In fact, I think more of them should engage with it. But there is no particular penetrating insight in the way he does so here, only self-flattery.
