Janine Divers says:

The part where he says he can see a human suffering and have a certain peace slightly disturbs me… so does enlightenment or acceptance to situations take away our drive to change things?

Sandie Broomfield says:

I've been waiting and wanting all my adult life for brilliant minds like these to teach me what I needed to know. Science and spirituality, sister subjects just needed somebody clever enough to link them and then teach us. Thank you so much. Really enjoying learning from your teachings Sir

Christine Kunert says:

I don't think it is accurate to title this video "How to Overcome Depression and Anxiety." It is true that it was Eckhart's experience that he looked at his thoughts and realized that he was separate from them and could rise above them. However, this is not the case for many people. Depression and anxiety can have a very strong physical/chemical component that is not controlled by thought. I have been following Eckhart since 2007 after a cancer diagnosis. I understand what he is saying, and he posted an essay of mine on his website. I have also experienced intense anxiety and depression, and although my awareness and spiritual practice helped me, I was not able to overcome my situation without medication. This is part of who we are as human beings. We are subject to the vagaries of our genetic endowment. I would hate to see people continue suffering with their mental illness, feeling like failures, because they could not overcome their illness simply by changing their thoughts. It just doesn't always happen that way.
