it always seems like Eckhart is telling us in the softest ways he can, to just grow up – start thinking maturely, thru the wisdom in the present consciousness. I like that 🙂 (we need that, too)

So minute 6 to 11 is misconceived. Because the soul has its own track through time from which it makes 'this pain body'. All that can be said is that there is resonance to the higher dynamic of the (greater) 'group' in that others are me, but never quiet completely. Reality most be seen as differentiated as it is please. 'Painbody' itself as terminlogy, is i.mo. also half a misconception because it is a resonance in the body originating from the reactive + unconcious part of any specific person's mind or 'overmind' (as differentiated from 'egomind'). Read on below.
There is an eternal indivisible 'I' on which the ego feeds, without it 'ego' would not be possible … 'to begin with'. This higher self or real self is also personal but Tolle does not address it or maybe doesnot even recognize it as such. I find that a remarkable possible misconception or an overlooking of the reality of the spirit + spiritworld, which is an essential + important layer in Reality, that is linked to the Law of Reincarnation .. (all this for lack of better formulation). One may even question how many layers there actually are and what 'created' that .. Maybe Barry Long left us clues in this in http://www.barrylongbooks.com/omu.htm (don't miss the 3 red links bottom page), 'I' will have to reread. Btw having read this unique text, I often had an unprecedented sensation of the book reading me .. Dreamstate while awake by just reading text. Recommendation for all seekers …
