The National Progressive Schools’ Conference (N.P.S.C.) came together in one cause, one understanding and in one place for an interactive session with His Holiness The Dalai Lama at Springdales School, Pusa Road on 22nd November,2014. An overwhelming 4000 Principals, Educators, Student leaders and founder Chairpersons attended the event.
Followed by an interfaith invocation by the choir Mrs. Ameeta Mulla Wattal, Chairperson, NPSC and Principal of the school in her welcome address expressed her joy at the presence of His Holiness and a sharing of his timeless wisdom.
Greeting the audience as his younger brothers and sisters, His Holiness said that human nature is essentially compassionate and blessed with infinite love. He said that humans need to rediscover their intimacy with God and one another. He complimented India’s 1000 year old tradition of integrating science with religious coexistence and ahimsa and felt it was a model for the world to emulate. He also commented on the need for self-discipline, the institution of marriage and family and said that the education system must shift its focus from ‘external’ or material values to developing the mind and ‘internal’ values. Addressing student leaders he reiterated that they had a key role to play in the building of their future. While the 20th Century was one of violence, conflict and war, in the 21st Century they must try to build a peaceful world by promoting the ‘one-ness’ of seven billion human beings.
The talk was followed by a question answer session which gave an insight into his personal life, choices, competition, inter-personal relationships and many other issues.
Mr. L.V. Sehgal, Former Chairperson, Principal, Bal Bharati Public School rendered the formal vote of thanks.
The world is dark and shallow but the light of few people is deep enough to
conquer the darkness. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is one such light.
The Bible refers to the power of the WORD and the power of our creator. It
is the power his persona that makes us reflect on our own actions.
A memorable day of my life. To a great man, a great day and a great woman
who made it all possible.
