In this talk His Holiness turns to one of his favorite themes: the importance of compassion. Far from being a uniquely Buddhist concern, the Dalai Lama explains why caring for others can be the basis for a rich and rewarding life for all people. Whether one is a Buddhist or not, whether one is religious or not, a concern for the welfare of others is just good common sense. Compassion changes egotism into empathy, and transforms fear into freedom. It is the basis for both personal and communal peace. Series: Voices [9/2009] [Humanities] [Show ID: 17091]

Truely a man with the ocean of wisdom. He is a living prince of peace, a teacher of intelligence, an inspirer of goodness of heart, a reincarnation of the Buddha of universal compassion.
his voice makes me feel paceful
dalai lama enslaved his people before ccp
The Dalai Lama has such a great mind-set. His philosophy might sound simple, but in practice can prove to be difficult. This man always gives me a moral boost when I need it. I’m glad he made an appearance on “Discover the Gift.” That documentary was so beautiful.

The Bible tells everyone to withstand persecution – it is exactly what the Tibetans did. As a Christian, you probably know how God speaks to people through everyday revelations. Now consider this: what if God appeared in the form of Siddhartha in the east as he did as Christ in the west based on the human condition on each side. You'll easily find Jesus in the form of Gautama in the east and Buddha in the form of Christ in the west…unless of course, you want to judge simply by names
@tucknasty89 If you think about it though, within you have the holy spirit, and with the Lama's teachings, you can create happiness from within. The holy spirit and finding happiness within without needing anything else. Forgiving others and reflecting in a realistic manner and casting all your sins onto Christ have him forgive you they all lead to the way to a healthy life and a deeper relationship with God. Eternal life and happiness through nirvana are they really that different?
@deva930 also it would not be the Dalai Lama charging, it would be the acquisitions committee at UCSB.
@deva930 probably; it costs money to light the auditorium, provide the sound systems, pay rent, pay security, pay the camera men, pay for transportation for the guests to the event, pay for boarding of the guests, provide food for after the presentation (if they so choose), pay for county licensing and permits to have large presentations, and so on. these things all take money in case you were unaware.
All you kiddy fiddling, land robbing extremist Koran and Bible bashing empty heads need to wake up and understand that we live nearly 2000 years after those ridiculous books were written by ill informed, superstitious primatives. Move WITH the times and not AGAINST them. Were all gonna die, theres probably nothing else when we die, who knows! You've no proof and neither do I! So just shut up or put up!
