At the start of the new millennium the Dalai Lama issued eighteen rules for living.
1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
2. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
3. Follow the three Rs:
1. Respect for self
2. Respect for others
3. Responsibility for all your actions.
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
6. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
7. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
8. Spend some time alone every day.
9. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
14. Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.
15. Be gentle with the earth.
16. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
i'm stunned
Just be on the present, basically we think about it as a box with golds, diamonds, pearls, gems etc. The present is the present moment. today, i mean NOW !!
9. "Open your arms to change, but not let go your values.." what if, my values are cruel, sick, or toxic? Another one, "learn the rules so that you can break them properly.." ok, ok you might say.. "oh you are too limited to understand this deep metaphor.." I'd say: "Go fuck yourself, a rule is a rule is bad to break even worse to know about it and to break on purpose "properly" ! The 3Rs do not reflect the best way to guide yourself spirituality speaking 'cause some consequences which you must get "ready" to accept and stand are actually the consequences of other's actions which harmed your feelings, or even more! and tried to defend yourself in a way or another. Exactly what we were talking about the "principle" know the rules precisely so that you can break them properly.. really? Fuck off..
Is that Sigur ros in the background?
Although these are all good 'rules', they are not compiled, quoted by or originate from H.H. The Dalai Lama. The 'rules' are compiled (and edited well) from various sources. Not to say, however, that they do not have their own merit.
boring music..got irritated
After watching this video I already felt peace..
This is the kind of things the youth should be watching in school on a daily basis. Most of the advanced societies in the world are only advanced in technology and not so much spiritually advanced. I believe one does not start truly living until they seek this kind of knowledge. Remember friends, the future of our species is in our childrens hands. We must make sure they are learning the true value of life. That wisdom is the most important thing on earth. We want a more happy and spiritual society in the future. If we do not start to prioritize that over academic achievement, social standing, and material gains than we are doomed as a species. We are on our way down a dead end street right now due to ignorance and vanity. People please educate yourself about this type of life everyday. Seek true life. The faster you know, the faster you grow. Peace, Love, Unity.
Number 4 ..is the best one, but the hardest in life

there are lot of similarities between hinduism and buddhism
love you dalai lama g wish to meet you again
If you take care of the present (live in the present), the future will take care of itself, as the saying goes. Always give the present priority over the future or the past, and you will be on the right path, the path to a peace of mind, true fulfillment. To live in the Present you need to first overcome the only thing that is distorting it your mind. Google TruthContest read the Present, it explains for the 1st time in history the ultimate explanation of the big picture of life in every facet, it explains the nature of everything, including the nature of your mind which distorts and hides true Life (present) Learning how life works is the key to change and overcome the badstates of the mind permantly.
this is not really quoted by dalai Lama…. please provide evidence
