After the Dalai Lama (2009): At 73 the Dalai Lama is facing retirement. Switching power to the Karmapa Lama could sidestep China’s plan to control his succession. But will the Karmapa be accepted by the Dalai Lama’s rival sect?

Recently, the Dalai Lama held an emergency summit on how to deal with China, stating: I have to accept failure. It is my moral responsibility to ask people what to do. Despite the historic rivalry between their sects, the Dalai Lama took the Karmapa Lama under his wing when he was exiled to India as a child. Many believe he is being groomed as a successor. But it is doubtful that members of the Dalai Lama’s sect will ever accept the Karmapa Lama as a leader. Hes the one who has to shoulder a great responsibility, says Tenzin Dhundup of The Tibetan Youth Congress. But can Karmapa prevent China from using the divisions amongst his followers to cripple the independence movement?

@irukakudjira8154 says:

Anything that could sidestep China's plan to control Tibet is benefit! Tibet deserves so much to be relieved of those sufferings due to China. Longlife to Tibet and to the Lama!

@ganghis100 says:

No provisions for Bhudda to have a successor anymore than Christ appointing a pope

i am in sudden yet gratefully a TEMPORARY SHOCK at viewing this–Although what raises to my need for opinion to be offered-IS TO MEDITATE UPON THIS ISSUE-asking of Lord Buddha for a return to my best MINDFULNESS-lest i hasten toward violated "clarity." and yet, some intuition which offers of itself no name-nor, from where it has formed-is insisting that CHANGE-may be necessary-even drastic change.
Warriors of Peace, may at times have to become Warriors of Defense—and this may be manifested through means repugnant to the Buddhist mind of practitioner.
the middle state-upon which we stand-reiterates-and has been for a while now–that standing STILL, is not the answer.
Fellow Buddhists-we must counsel with the Buddha who is in our Hearts-for advisement.
Buddha has not EVER let us down-He shall NOT-Now. Has He not always lived in our HEARTS???-THEN to our hearts and Then-through our hearts he SHALL SPEAK. (who else do we have as completely TRUSTED counsel? The Buddha has always been our Teacher.

long live all sentience being.., FREE TIBET…

@kelsangchokyan979 says:

Unfortunate that this Karmapa doesn't have faith in the "Buddhist approach" and doesn't comment on violence in Tibet.  Buddha always preached non-violence, but Karmapa and Dalai Lama seem to support Tibetan's violent protests against Chinese, Shugdens, Karmapa Trinlay Thaye, or anyone who does not follow their views. They also seem to be supporting self-immolation, which is also a violent act.

@wanminghu5859 says:

So you think after ROC over took PRC, Tibet will be free, Or do you think a Democrocy China will allow part of it's territory indepandence? I don't think so. If you really want tibet free, the only smart way is push your government start a war with China, If you can't, then what you are doing now is show the Chinese people, that some western people want to destroy their nation(they already taught too much of this kind of shit inside school) and the western freedom sucks.

@RRRRussia says:

dude, i would just be like SHORYUKEN!

@DeadNerve47 says:

Why I feel Karmapa Lama looks not so smart in this video. Randomly watched another video.

Well, just saying. When politics combine with religion, it is really complicated.

@Bosshogg386 says:

I'm not referring to the current dalai lama, I'm talking about this guy who wants to replace him after he dies. Not only is he unworthy, but he is already born, disqualifying him automatically.

@IndigenousVoices says:

It is Religious tradition for people to serve him, He doesn't order them. He doesn't expect them to do those things, His devotees do it themselves.

If the Dalai Lama truly wanted Power, He had the capacity to incite "War". Even today, Millions follow him across the Globe, All he has to say is "Make war on China and get back Tibet". Does he does this ?

Of course not. He wants Peace and Love, Not War and Hatred, This is what you fail to see in him, His nobleness.

@Bosshogg386 says:

This is no holy man, certainly no replacement for the dalai lama. He acts like a king, having servants wait on him hand and foot bringing him tea and what not. No true buddhist would act in this way.

@jsherpa25 says:

wait are Sherpas part of the red hat sect?

@carol715nana says:

it is funny to hear his explanation that Buddhism is unable to help people control their emotion. So what the exact nature of Buddhism? He has been always saying that Tibetans in Tibet have been suffering, Hand on, What they have been suffering? will you be so confident to say that Tibet will be better under your control? Just for better weather! lol
