Let me break this down as I see.
This teacher absolutely has no knowledge how to define what the "I am" within all intelligent species is.
There is no " I am " without content and not hard to describe because the moment one has said to oneself " I am", they they must be talking to something within that has content whether one knows what that content is or not or how it derived because it did derive from a physical source being its inception at a epoch to form the intelligent species and evolve.
Its presence can be defined because it is a material physical source iteration function unto itself that exists and formed the intelligent species.
This teacher and Buddha has entered a revolving door of confusion some where in his/their life and has refused themselves the " I am" to connect to his/their brain to show him/them the way out because they consider their " I am " an illusion.
Even the Ancient Greek didn't know themselves when they said "know yourself", they did not know what that physical source is or how it derived that formed the intelligent species.
" you are" you bet there is something of a physical source within. Physical source forms physical being.
